Performing Arts
Students are involved in a broad range of excellent creative learning experiences in the areas of Music, Dance, Drama, and Media. They develop the ability to express their ideas and feelings in a variety of ways and to appreciate, respond to and reflect on the role of the arts in our society. Specialist staff are provided for both Visual Arts (Art/Craft) and Performing Arts (Music, Dance and Drama).
The Performing Arts Program is linked to themes being studied by each year level where possible.
To complement the weekly Performing Arts lessons, there are a number of extracurricular activities which students can opt to participate in at no cost, including: our Chalcot Choir for students in Years 3 to 6; our Chalcot Cheer Squad for students in Years 5 and 6; the annual Chalcot Talent Quest for all students; and in our Chalcot family end of year concert, which involves students, their families and staff. Years 4 and 6 students are also involved in theatrical productions.
Over and above our school’s Performing Arts Program, students have the opportunity to learn how to play an instrument, as Grace Notes Music School offers lessons once a week in our Performing Arts room, either to individual students or small groups. This is a ‘user pays’ program.
