Sport & Physical Education
The focus is on the importance of a healthy lifestyle and physical activity in the lives of individuals and groups within our society. Physical activity, games, sport and outdoor recreation contributes to a sense of community and social connectedness and are vital components of wellbeing.
Health and Physical Education is incorporated in: Traffic Safety & PMP (Prep-2); Inter-school Sport; House Sports; The Buddy Program; Health Education; a Year 3 / 4 and 5 / 6 Camping Program held every two years; Swimming; values from the ‘You Can Do It’ program; gymnastics, athletics, dance, minor and major games.
Sport: In Year Prep, 1 and 2, students begin to learn the basic skills needed to participate in team games. In Years 3, 4, 5 and 6, higher order skills needed for major games such as soccer, football, cricket etc. are taught. Year 6 students are involved in interschool sports on a weekly basis. Sport skills are taught to students across the school during PE lessons. Students also have opportunities to participate in sporting activities at district, zone, region and state levels as well as House Sports.
Swimming is an optional part of the Physical Education Program.
It is important that students have a school hat in Terms 1 & 4 and have the appropriate footwear and school uniform suitable for physical activity.
If your child suffers from Asthma, he/she will need to carry their inhaler to PE sessions.
If your child is unable to participate due to injury and illness, please provide a signed note informing our PE teacher the issue and his/her limitations.
