Students residing within our school zone are guaranteed a place at our school, which is determined based on your permanent residential address.

Our school manages enrolments using the Placement Policy to ensure that students have access to their designated neighbourhood school and may enrol at another school, if there are available places.

For more information about our school zone, please contact our school. For answers to frequently asked questions about school zones and enrolling in Victorian government schools, visit School zones.

The Department of Education has released the statewide Foundation (Prep) enrolment timeline for the 2027 school year.

All Victorian government primary schools follow the statewide Foundation (Prep) enrolment timeline. The timeline advises families when and how to enrol their child at a Victorian government primary school.

You can find information and resources about the timeline, including factsheets and a poster at: Enrolling in Foundation (Prep).

You can apply to enrol your child in Foundation (Prep) in 2027 from Monday 20 April 2026.

 What you need to do:

1. Contact our school Chalcot Lodge Primary School to book a school tour.

Our school uses the Department of Education’s secure digital enrolment system called VicStudents. This means you can submit your Foundation (Prep) application online and receive updates through the system. If you have any questions about the online enrolment process, please contact our school. Paper enrolment application forms are also available on request.

4. You will be notified of the outcome of your application between Monday 3 August and  Friday 14 August 2026.

5. If you receive an enrolment offer, you should accept the offer by Friday 28 August 2026.

6. Take part in school transition sessions during Term 4, 2026.

7. Prepare your child to start Foundation (Prep) from Thursday 28 January 2027.

DE Enrolment Placement Policy

Going to your local school

Most parents send their child to the public school closest to where they live.

The designated neighborhood school is measured by a straight line from your permanent address, if you live in:

- Metropolitan Melbourne

- Ballarat

- Bendigo

- Geelong.

If you live in another area, it's measured by the shortest practical route by road and considers access issues. If your child lives at multiple addresses, their permanent address is where they spend most of their weekdays.Your child has a right to enrol in their designated neighbourhood school. This right is set out in the Education Reform Act 2006.A small number of schools have restricted zones to respond to local population growth.

Going to a non-local school

You have the choice to enrol your child at a school outside of your designated neighbourhood zone. The school may accept this enrolment as long as it has enough space.

Once the school is full, it cannot accept enrolments from outside its neighbourhood zone. This is outlined in the Department of Education’s Placement policy. Chalcot Lodge Primary School follows this policy to manage and accept enrolments.

Always use findmyschool.vic.gov.au to check school zones. We cannot endorse advice from real estate agents or other websites.
